"Building Relationships for Our Children"
Quality Care Conference Focuses on Building Relationships for our Children
Quality Care is challenging you to build with us!! We are pleased to announce its second annual 2011 Child Development Conference. The theme of this year’s conference is “Building Relationships for Our Children.” In keeping with the theme, many of the workshops will focus on building strong relationships with parents, children, and the community.
“This year we have decided not only provide enrichment activities for our providers, but the parents are also invited,” said Kelli Costa, Coordinator of the Quality Care Child Development Conference. “This is the true expression of our theme this year because it is only possible to build relationships for our children when parents are involved in the process.”
The Child Development Conference will have workshops, activities and resources for child care providers, parents, and the children who have accompanied their parents. The conference takes place on October 10, 2011 in the Luciano Center at the Cumberland County College in Vineland.
The provider tract of the conference is designed for child care professionals, administrators and directors. There will be a number of workshops throughout the day by a diverse set of trainers. Linda Kilby and Judith Khanuja will be presenting “Children’s Bread Bake”. This workshop is designed to be interactive and will teach participants to help children prepare a healthy, delicious multigrain loaf of bread. In addition, Denise Boyer will present workshops on “Inclusion and Building Relationships for the Better.” The conference will also have trainings geared toward maintaining your business. Peggi Trusty will present on “Marketing Strategies” and Peter Bacote will present “Business Planning”. These are only a few of the workshops we have waiting for you. The parent and children activities promise to be both enlightening and fun-filled. Parents will be able to enjoy one or both of our parent’s classes titled, “Want to Stay Sane” and “Me Time” taught by Jean Kuhl. While parents enjoy their informative workshops, the children can enjoy separate child friendly activities. This portion of the day’s activities is free.
“Children activities serve as child care for attending parents,” said Costa. “We don’t want anything to keep our parents from being a part of this event.” There are only 60 slots available for children. These activities are not designated to allow providers to bring children, but are specifically set aside for children of attending parents. Parent and children programs begin at 1:00 pm until 3:30pm. “Quality Care is positioned to assist during the most monumental and foundational time of individual’s life: childhood,” said Susan James, CEO/President of Quality Care. “Our conference this year has been designed to maximize the potential of every attending provider and also make parenting a successful and less over-whelming endeavor.” Providers will also receive CDA credits for this event.
“A quality CDA education is also listed amongst Quality Care’s endeavors to make child care in Cape May, Cumberland, Gloucester, and Salem Counties the best education that New Jersey has to offer for child care providers,” said James. “The Quality Care Child Development Institute continues to offer CDA credit for providers interested in increasing their CDA hours after the conference.”
Registration for child care providers begins at 8:00am and will be followed by a continental breakfast. The keynote speaker this year will be Dan Hodgins who is an internationally renowned presenter and author of many articles on child development. Quality Care will serve a hot lunch buffet for the providers. There will be a number of vendors present to purchase items from or obtain resources. Registration packets for parents and providers are due back to Quality Care by September 2, 2011. Please note that there will be photographers present at the conference. “Quality Care is excited about this year’s event,” said Costa, “We are looking to double the attendance of last year’s conference and are offering more classes and more food to benefit the endeavors off all those we serve. We are looking forward to hearing from you.”
