Quality Care understands the importance of professional development and continuing education. It is our commitment to provide quality workshops that are designed to enhance the skills, knowledge and education of child care professionals.

Cape May

Advancing Cognitive Development:  Erin O'Hanlin


Learn activities that encourage exploration, curiosity, and problem solving appropriate to developmental levels and learning styles of all children.  This will be a very hands-on training that will explore math and science concepts for young children, and how to incorporate children with special needs in cognitive development.  NOTE: This is a two part training program presented on two evenings (4 hours total).  You must register and attend both trainings for the full 2 hours to receive a certificate of completion for this important training.  Limited to 12 Students.

Medication Administration Part 1:  Martie Granieri


In part 1, we will review NJ licensing regulations regarding medical administration, learn the 6 Rights of Safe Medication Administration, understand proper medication labeling, and differential responsibilities among child care providers, health care providers and parents.  We will discuss issues related giving medication in child care settings, when and when NOT to give medication, the various forms needed to document properly, and the 4 C's of Safe Medication Administration will be discussed.

Medication Administration Part 2: Martie Granieri


In part 2 of the training program, we will describe processes for safe handling, storage and disposal of medications, demonstrate the steps involved in giving medications to children, including each route and how to safely administer medications, practice accurate measuring techniques, review appropriate forms to document/record medications, discuss side effects and learn differentiate between medication incidents and errors.  We will also identify circumstances that may require calling 911 or Poison Control.

Explore the research and best practices that surround infant death syndrome.  Learn the differences between fact and fiction regarding SIDS and how to best protects infants in your care.

Recognize how you and your staff relate to one another and the impact that this has on your program and perceived professionalism.  Your professionalism sets an example for children and adults in child care setting that should encourage others to work toward resolving issues and problems among themselves cooperatively and respectfully.
